Students from around the country and the world were in attendance to compete in more than 50 different business related areas at this amazing conference. James Price, Trevor Adams and Heather Katzenbach took 10th place in the nation competing in the E-Business Web Site Development category. For this event, the students created a web site to sell flowers and plants. The site was designed to generate revenue for the chapter by allowing customers to preorder flowers and plants that would be available for sale. The site was pre-judged before the competition on design and functionality, and the students were required to give a presentation at the conference detailing their development process. Michael Rhodes also attended the conference competing in the Computer Applications category where he placed in the top fifteen percent of the nation. The awards are part of a comprehensive competitive events program sponsored by FBLA. The students began by competing at the state level in April. The competition is state wide with no divisions as to school size. Students placing 1st and 2nd at the state level qualify to compete at the national competition. James Price, E-Business team captain, said, “FBLA provides so many opportunities for students and has inspired me to work toward the accomplishment of my goals. I would encourage all future students to become involved in FBLA and work toward their maximum potential.” “I am in awe of the ability and knowledge of these students,” states Lisa Crane, HHS FBLA Advisor, “It is exciting to see them achieve at this level.” The students would like to thank all the individuals and businesses who made their attendance possible.
