Anderson (14) and Broadhead (10), both sophomores at Desert Hills, were quick to put in some baskets capturing the lead. In the first quarter Clyde (11) a senior scored six points and Shields (35) a sophomore scored three points for the Hurricane Tigers. Desert Hills Anderson, Broadhead and Bennion (13) made up 12 points for the Thunder ending the first quarter with a three point lead.

Improvements were made by the Lady Tigers in the second quarter. Passing was a major key in getting Clyde and Shields the ball where they could take the shot. Clyde racked up eight points by the twos including one free throw for one point. Shields also put in a free throw.  Two more free throws from Hoyt put the Tigers at 12 points for the second quarter. Along with improved offense Tigers were able to stock up on defense keeping the Desert Hills Thunder to seven points, four of which were scored by Buckway, two from Anderson and one from Bennion. The first quarter ended 21-19 with the Lady Tigers in a narrow lead.

The third quarter began much like the first quarter and ended even worse for the Lady Tigers. Shields scored three points, one on the line and another from under the hoop as well as a two point shot from Hoyt which was the result of quick passes around Thunder defense. Unfortunately, five points was very miniscule compared to the 13 points scored by Desert Hills. Anderson and Broadhead scored four points apiece and Bennion made five ending the third quarter 32-26 in favor of the Thunder.

With Desert Hills only six points ahead, winning the game was definitely achievable for the Tigers. Good passes continued and Clyde was able to add six more points to the clock. Hoyt and Keil (22), juniors, each chipped in two and Stratton (35), a freshman, gave four points. Thirteen points in the fourth quarter from both teams wasn’t helpful to the Tigers. Bennion earned eight of those points, Broadhead two, Anderson two, and Larson (3), a junior, furthered the score with one free throw.

A good point of the game for the Lady Tigers was their incredible passing and remarkable efforts from Clyde and Shields. Tigers put up a lot of shots that didn’t go in and were seemingly unable to stop Desert Hills hot shooters, subsequently losing the game 45-39.
